Avatar Coke Zero London Premiere

Two competition winners join Lisa Snowdon at the London film premiere of James Cameron’s epic new film Avatar, sponsored by Coke Zero. Kirkwall caught up with them all before they walked the ‘blue’ carpet as the winners saw their names in lights on the Piccadilly Circus Coca-Cola sign.



Boots Get Gok Gorgeous Christmas Range

Filmed as part of the Boots Christmas campaign promoting Gok Wan’s new beauty range, this video was produced and directed by Ross Williams, Kirkwall’s newest recruit.



NCVO Annual Impact Report

Commissioned by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), this video was a visual insight into what had traditionally been an extensive printed report sent out yearly to it’s 6000 plus members.

The video was always intended as supporting media to the impact report and was seen as an opportunity to give voice to a broad selection of NCVO members, from single volunteer organisations to established UK charities such as Mencap. All of which utilise the services NCVO have to offer.

The video also incorporated an umbrella motif throughout to symbolise the organisation’s ‘umbrella’ status and highlighting the fact NCVO is now in it’s 90th year.

The video was shot in High Definition on a Sony EX1, whilst the umbrella elements were filmed in a green scree studio using the Canon 5D MKII and composited in After Effects.



Life on the Waste Lane Webisodes

Kirkwall have completed a series of four webisodes for Kenco as part of their Eco Refill campaign. The videos were produced by Edward Tull and written and directed by Fraser Keddie.
The four videos follow celebrity Amanda Holden and eco-expert Oliver Heath as they launch the Waste Less challenge across the UK at different ‘Waste Lane’ locations.
The campaign highlight the amount of household waste we produce and combats the issue by reducing packaging. Oliver Heath was on hand to offer help to families on how to upcycle their household waste creatively into new products.
Kirkwall produced the videos over a four week period on location in Coventry, Yorkshire and Cheshire, following families as they learned new skills and changed old habits. The webisodes include video diary and ive action footage.

Amanda Holden fronts new Kenco eco campaign

As part of a green packaging campaign, Kenco are launching new Eco Refill coffee packs.
Kirkwall was commissioned to provide video production services and help create ‘eco masterlcass’ films fronted by Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden and eco-expert Oliver Heath, previously a designer on BBC1 series Changing Rooms.
Kirkwall director Fraser Keddie helped develop the video content and write the scripts, before going on to direct three masterclass films. Shot on location in South London, the films demonstrate ‘make do and mend’ projects utilising everyday household items, whilst informing viewers about ways to reduce and re-use their household waste.
The whole project was produced by Edward Tull, currently head of production at Kirkwall. Edward was able to turn around all three films in just one studio shoot day.

Bike Polo and Digital T-Shirts

Commissioned to demonstrate a new range of programmable T-shirts, this promo was directed by Paul Mumford with the help of Kirkwall as the production team.
The video shows Paul’s collaborations with Lumalive textile lighting and shows off the skills of bike polo players in the impending build up to the London 2009 European Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships.

Becks Ladyhawke Secret Gig

Music venue, The Village Underground was transformed into a make-shift art studio with a number of up-and-coming London based artists creating their artwork on huge Becks bottle labels. Giant versions of the music inspired artwork from Hard-Fi, Ladyhawke and her artist Sarah Larnach hung on the wall. Kirkwall was invited to film and document the event which included a performance by Ladyhawke.


Ugly Betty Diet Coke Launch

Diet Coke has launched a limited edition, customisable bottle based on Channel 4’s Ugly Betty, to be sold exclusively in Selfridges’ stores. The bottle has been designed by Ugly Betty stylist, Patricia Field.
To launch the exclusive bottles, Kirkwall was asked to film behind the scenes footage of the launch at Selfridges, which involved 5 Ugly Betty look-a-likes.
The footage was filmed, edited and delivered same day using a digital work flow to ensure a speedier sign off and maintain the ‘newsworthiness’ of the story.



Mencap Viral named Digital Campaign of the Week – Third Sector

Third Sector magazine, the UK’s leading publication for everyone who needs to know what’s going on in the voluntary and not-for-profit sector, has named Mencap’s Changing Places campaign ‘Digital Campaign of the Week’.

The two films which help promote the campaign, were produced by Kirkwall for Mencap and include a viral video and solutions video.
The viral video was filmed on High Definition using the Canon 5D MkII digital stills camera, which opened up the possibilities for using a wide selection of film lenses.

NCVO Annual Conference: Kirkwall Multimedia Workshop

On 8th June, umbrella body, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations or NCVO, held it’s annual conference at it’s headquarters in London. The event was aimed at ‘anyone who works in communications, marketing or publishing for a charity, voluntary or community organisation, who wants to start using multimedia to get their message across’. Kirkwall was asked to head up one of the workshops entitled ‘Multimedia on shoestring’ in which we relayed some key processes from within the TV and Film industry to charities but using techniques on low of no budgets.
